The Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) is a unique meeting point in Mexico for the cinematographic community, the people of Michoac\u00e1n and international filmmakers. FICM\u2019s mission is to promote new talents in Mexican cinema, to increase the offering of quality cinema and to contribute to the cultural and tourist activities in the state of Michoac\u00e1n.<\/p>\n

Sections in Competition<\/h4>\n

FICM has four official sections in competition, all of which involve exclusively Mexican films:<\/p>\n

  1. Michoac\u00e1n Section (for filmmakers who reside in Michoac\u00e1n)<\/li>\n
  2. Mexican Short Film<\/li>\n
  3. Mexican Documentary<\/li>\n
  4. Mexican Feature Film<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Since its beginning in 2003, FICM established a solid partnership with the Critics\u2019 Week of the Cannes Film Festival, which has promoted Mexican filmmakers such as Alejandro Gonzalez I\u00f1\u00e1rritu, Guillermo del Toro and Fernando Eimbcke. A selection of films from the Critics\u2019 Week is presented each year at FICM with the presence of some of their participants. Likewise, the Critics\u2019 Week shows some of FICM\u2019s winning films.<\/p>\n

    The films of Critics\u2019 Week 2014 that will be shown to the public in Morelia are the following:<\/p>\n

    1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Tribe<\/em> by Myroslav Slaboshpytskiy (Ukraine). Winner of the Nespresso Grand Prize, the Revelation Prize and the Distribution Grant from the Fundaci\u00f3n Gan.
    \n2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hope<\/em> by Boris Lojkine (France). Winner of the SACD Prize.
    \n3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Gente de bien<\/em> by Franco Lolli (Colombia)
    \n4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It Follows<\/em> by David Robert Mitchell (United States)
    \n5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Pi\u00f9 Buio Di Mezzanote<\/em> by Sebastiano Riso (Italy)
