The International Cervantino Festival (F.I.C.), better known simply as “Cervantino”, takes place every year in the charmingly colorful city of Guanajuato. The festival was born in the mid -XX century, when tMiguel de Cervantes’ plays where performed in the city’s several squares.  In 1972, with the support of federal government, more artistic performances were added to the traditional attractions and thus, the Festival took on a more international flair. Today, the Cervantino is one of the largest of its kind, around the globe.

In 1989, the city of Guanajuato was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This helped in providing the already architecturally stunning city with a much needed facelift.
