    WHERE IS IT LOCATED?

    Talpa de Allende, one of the eight magical towns in the state of Jalisco, outstands by its culture, religious tradition, and beautiful mountain landscapes. It is located in the west of the state, in the Western Sierra Coast Region, 190 kilometers west of the state capital.

    328 miles – 2:30 hours from Guadalajara

    HOW TO GET THERE?

    By land from Guadalajara, Jalisco.

    You have to take the free road to Ameca, Jalisco, passing through Ameca, Mixtlán and Atenguillo

    Approximate time by car: 2. 5 hours

    Approximate time by bus: 4 hours

    Buses depart from the New and the Old Bus Stations in Guadalajara.

    By land from Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco.

    The trip starts taking the free road to Las Palmas, passing through the towns of La Estancia de Landeros, San Sebastian del Oeste y Mascota.

    Approximate time by bus: 4 hours

    Another alternative is to take the buses leaving from the station at the Versalles neighborhood.

    Talpa de Allende has an airstrip for small planes, which currently hosts only private flights.

    WHAT SHOULD YOU TASTE?

    The local cuisine offers as a representative dish the typical traditional birria, but there are other traditional dishes with a local touch, such as gorditas, pozole, tamales, and tostadas.

    The sweet part of its gastronomy has the guava as the main protagonist, present in most desserts such as rolls and layers, although they are also made from other fruits, such as capulín, peach, nance, and pineapple.

    WHAT SHOULD YOU BUY?

    The purchases of handicrafts and souvenirs are based on products made with chilte, a material produced by the sap of the chicozapote, which is collected and put on fire with water, until it acquires the consistency of gum.

    Some of the most common crafts made with this unique material are: Baskets, hats, pitchers, casseroles. We can also find other types of clay crafts such as jugs, cups, vases, furniture, and pots.

    Other representative artisan elements that are for sale are belts, huaraches, and saddles.

    WHAT TO DO?

    The destination's main tourist attractions are:

    Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of Talpa: Located in the center of town, the Sanctuary of the Virgen del Rosario, Built in 1782 with Churrigueresque and Gothic style.

    Museum of Our Lady of the Rosary of Talpa: It exhibits several religious objects, as well as a collection of dresses of the Virgin in which you can see embroidery with gold threads of up to 24 carats.
